2 months after receiving this TV the screen has gone black. Samsung instructed us to ship it to a service repair center and shipping is the responsibility of the customer. I called UPS and the cost to custom-pack a 32" televisions is 120 $. I called Samsung to request a box to ship it in and they re-iterated, shipping is the responsibility of the customer - but would send me a return label. So now we have an 800 $ television that's going to cost 120 $ to pack for warranty. We've only had it two months. I see from another reviewer that sending it Samsung is no guarantee the television will come back any time soon.
On a related note - up until 2008 Samsung's 32" televisions received free in-home repair service. As of 2009 32" is now considered "small" and must be shipped to the manufacturer for service.

Tv is great but be aware if you are not near a Samsung warranty facility and have an issue, shipping is on you. Samsung does not provide inhome service as incorrectly stated by Amazon. Samsung has a mistake in their own warranty statement if you look. It appears that 32" is missing from their policy but is there because they say only 37" tv's have in home service...
Be aware and maybe by an extended warranty since lcd's are dieing faster than old tubes.... 2-4 years is normal it appears...

I bought this television (as a gift) after a bad experience with a Haier 7" LCD portable (very poor reception and then it died the day after I gave it to my mom). I ordered the Axion as a replacement and the reception is a LOT better than with the Haier. It picks up more channels and almost all the channels are crystal clear (with the Haier, only one channel was clear).
I think the key for these TVs is an external antenna. WIth the Haier, you have to purchase one. This TV came with a built-in antenna AND an external antenna, and perhaps that is the difference as far as reception. (As to why the Haier stopped working - no idea).
This TV is to be used as a replacement for an analog and the review is based on use with just the antenna provided, not hooked up to cable or any kind of converter box. On its own, with the antenna provided, the TV has so far been excellent. After the experience with the Haier model, I am thrilled with this one. I ordered this tv on 07Jun and recd it 15Jun. After reading the instructions I found my Batt was already hooked up. I attached the dipole antenna that came with the set to determine what it could do and it pulled in a few stations. As I was previously using a converter with my portable analog tv I knew what stations were available to me. I connected my Radio Shack rabbit ears with UHF antenna and had trouble getting one station or getting it without another. After about 6 tries moving my antenna to different positions I got all my available channels programed into the set. Now, I sometimes have to adjust the antenna a bit depending on the channel I choose. It doesn't seem to be quite as strong as the converter for holding a station. However, I purchased it for my camper and the size is perfect and it's flat enough to hang on the wall with a home made hanger. The color is great, the sound is real good [2 speakers in the front], it's very easy to program and adjust. When you send it a command to turn on or change channels you need to give it a few seconds to execute, so patience is in order. After fully charging the batt I ran the unit off of it and it operated just over 2hrs and it's a snap to recharge. The remote is, as others have commented, the kind you have to point directly at the set. The buttons are pretty easy to manipulate even with fatter fingers. As a caveat I live in an area with good signals. Well...our local TV station posted several links of various portable bat op TVs we could possibly buy to have here in strong storm and hurricane land. Now I can tell you I already miss my battery op. anolog 8 D batteries, little NOW VINTAGE TV-batteries die, just put in more! I dont have a converter box, I live rather rural, tho Im near a major city (TAMPA) they still wont bring cable/dsl/fios to us rural folk out here in Plant City-there is some, but its mostly around the city and for people who live close to the road. So even tho I have a generator that will run my TV n sat box...I would still have no picture during bad storms. ANd I have a weather radio...but I like seeing radar and that's a big drain on your laptop when your stuck with a 5GB wifi card becasue there is no high speed out here and dial up wont allow you to load radar intensive pages. I needed an alternative. I was skeptical ordering one of these considering where I live, I figured Id be one of those people who would be lucky to get one station. Im in the middle of a cow pasture. I tried to look up my location on AtennaWeb, no luck. So I took a chance. Well it arrived, after reading the other review (Fantastic) I quickly realized I could figure this out without even looking at the directions. I screwed in the antenna it came with and it wouldnt stay tight...unless you propped it up against a wall. Not good. Couldnt get ANY channels. Figured right, considering I live in no where ville in the middle of a cow pasture I expected this. Started to pout. Went and got the REAL rabbit ears, screwed them in...walked outside next to a cow and rescanned. Got 1 channel. Rescanned 2 more times. Now Im happy to report I have 26 PLUS channels-channels I didnt even know where out there! ALl work in the house now too, tho I do have to adjust the rabbit ears on certain channels. I get 2 out of the 3 major networks! YAY! and the one I dont get I dont really want. The picture is VERY CLEAR and pretty-makes my big TV look sick! It comes with a nifty little remote WITH BATTERIES (thats nice of them) and a car charger too!-and cords so you can hook right to your cable or sat. box.-No power? Plug it in to your cig liter.! The only bad things I can say are the antenna it comes with-CHUCK IT-its worthless. When you change channels sometimes you have to give them a minute to come in-its not INSTANT like analog. If they dont come in all u have to do is move the antenna. Now the inst. book. A.) Dont even bother reading it. B.) If you do be prepared for one of those BADLY translated Chinese to English deals-its rather comical but not very helpful. If it wasnt for the antenna, not being able to purchase a seperate back up battery and the poorly written inst. manual, I'd give it 5 stars. Brought this through the analog to digital conversion, and aside from rescanning a few times, it works great. As other reviews indicated, the enclosed antenna is inadequate for a few reasons, but since I had a couple of extra antennae from the purchase of my large TV, I tried them both. Oddly enough, in my market (NYC), the unpowered antenna works better.
For me the best thing is that it runs on 18 watts, versus the 100 watts the big TV runs on.

I have been using digital TVs in my house for several years now and with the elimination of analog TV signals in the US in February, 2009, I needed to replace the B&W Sony Watchman I've use at my workplace for years. I'd been waiting for the big name electronic companies to introduce their portable digital TVs, but few if any have come to market. I was ready to make the jump and this unit seemed to meet my needs at a price point I was willing to pay for a small portable TV. Even though I had never heard of this company before, and could find almost no information about this TV elsewhere, the few other reviews that were here convinced me to take a chance on it.
Overall the unit has performed about as expected. The digital image is sharp and well defined. Colors are vibrant and saturated. The digital tuner works well enough, but could be more sensitive. For all intents and purposes the "built-in" antenna is pretty much useless, but with an external antenna the TV performs much better. I passingly looked at the analog reception. It was OK but since the transmissions will end operation 2 months after I write this, who really cares how it performs in analog?
As far as I can tell, the LCD screen displays some level of High Definition, but I have yet to find a single spec sheet that shows the resolution of the screen to prove this, INCLUDING the manufacturer's own website. That being said it is clearly above the 520 lines of analog TV, so this is a HDTV.
I mention the built-in antenna being poor and there is another "external" antenna included . Both are analog antennas, and are not optimized for UHF digital transmissions. You'll no doubt need to purchase or build another external antenna to get the everything out of this TV that you can.
As mentioned in another review, the battery lasts about an hour, but that's to be expected with the size of the battery and the size of the screen. I doubt any other manufacturer's portable TVs will provide power for much longer due to the state of battery technology today. For my use, I have the ability to plug the TV in whenever I am using it, so this is not much of a deficit for me, but I have to say my 1980s Watchman could last 6x to 8x on 4 AA batteries, but one can't compare that unit with this one because the way they create the images on the screen is so different.

WOW! This thing is really bad at picking up on air TV. I have tried every room in the house, every possible length and position of the antenna and I have not gotten a glimmer of local TV stations. I have used the auto scan and I have keyed channel numbers in with the remote. Nothing! This thing has to have the weakest tuner in existence.
I went out and drove around town stopping frequently and running an auto scan. One time I received a channel, but, then I moved the TV about a quarter inch and it broke up. When I tried to move back to what I thought was my original position and got the "Failed To Receive Broadcast" message that now is so familiar to me.
In my opinion this thing is of no value at all and I am going to return it and get a real, portable TV.
I reluctantly had to give this thing one star in order to submit my review. It's not worth any stars.

Ok, this Tv suffers from a poor antenna (I just left the antenna in the box). I plug mine into a good HDTV antenna and I get over 30 stations where I live. If I plug it into my home cable, I get all the stations as expected (even the cable analog is picked up). It actually has a good picture. Speakers could be slightly better, but I am happy. I'm actually thinking of buying another one of these for the bathroom because I like it so much. The remote has volume and channel changing ability (buttons are a little small) but works. There can be a slight delay sometimes pressing a button to actions on the TV (but nothing big). I would have liked the RF input to be in the back of the TV instead of the side so that the cable would not stick out so much from the right side. These would make great gifts for friends, just do not count on the antenna that comes in the box (it is just terrible). One negative I do not like is that during the auto scan, it list all the channels (even ones it cannot pick up). You have to let it finish and then manually tell it to hide stations that are "blank" or it has no signal on. Other 7" TVs like the Viore actually filter out all "blank" channels like it should. I kept the Haier over the Viore, because it could detect my cable companies analog stations as well as the digital. The Viore could not detect my analog stations at all. If you do not care about using the included TV antenna in the box, this is really a great TV for the money and size. Looks great in my office. I bought this tv primarily as a "backup" for hurricane season--my electricity was out 8 days after Hurricane Ike last year. I'm very disappointed in this tv because I can't receive the basic local channels even in this large Houston market. I've gone to every room in my house and even out in the yard. When I finally do get a channel it breaks up so bad that it's not watchable. Other reviewers have suggested buying more powerful antennas but they require electricity which defeats the purpose of my buying the set to begin with. I'm a RVer and got this because it is 12v.
but found that you can hook it to your IPOD (if video capable) and show the movies on this without anything being plug into an electrical outlet!! How good is that for tent camping! Tested battery got 2-1/2 hours of use with brightness up.Images I took look a bit soft but the pic on the TV is sharp and clear and has different modes, soft, warm, cool, etc. Great TV and with an IPOD you have a couple of hours of use. 'Unit seems well made everything is tight and the case a bit rubberized, i already dropped it once, no problem. 'Remote is a bit small for big hands that's all i can see wrong.

I live in a rural area and thought I would have a problem with DTV reception. I was wrong. This TV brings in DTV signals very well. Analog signals are fine, but, obviously, they are going away. the included antenna has to be used in a window if one is inside. Never been a problem. The Haier HLT71 7-inch portable LCD TV works well. When hooked to cable the picture is as clear as the larger LCD TVs. When working from the antenna the reception is good on a couple of stations bad on others but that is because of the poor signals from the local stations. The other TVs do not receive the signals well either. I recommend this portable TV. Living in Florida it was purchased for hurricane season since we loose our power often during the storms. I got what I wanted when I purchased this TV. It's just the right size and the picture is great. It does not tune in when traveling on the road. I knew that when I purchased it. It does have to be in just the right spot to tune in if you are not close to a tower. It has a beautiful picture when connected to cable as well as when you tune into a tower. I have not tried to connect with an external TV antenna, but other reviews say this might help. I might try that in the future.

I have owned this cute portable tv for two weeks and enjoyed it every minute. It has a clear picture, program guide for digital stations, and closed caption. I feel obliged to write a review to share with you about this TV.
Reception:
Many users complained about poor reception on this TV. My advice is to change a better quality antenna. I only get 1 channel with the included antenna. I can get 20 channels with an antenna from a Pinnacle USB tv tuner. This antenna has a 2.5" magnetic base. It is very similar to Axion portable tv's external antenna. Yes, 45, super clear, no interference channels. I can pull stations from 25-30 miles away.
If you have cable, this TV comes with QAM and can receive all digital and analog stations. You can enjoy free HD programs from local public TV stations.
Sound issue:
I agree with most reviewers here. The sound is tinny on this portable tv. But after hours of research before purchase, I found it is a common problem for almost all portable TVs and even many regular LCD TVs. To keep TVs slim and small, the manufacturers have to use small speakers which compromise the sound quality to a great degree.
Why I choose Haier as opposed to Axion?
Because Haier has a replaceable battery and Axion's battery is solded inside. And we know that batteries do not live long, usually 3-5 years. Batteries can leak if it is not taken out after drain.
Suggestions to the manufacturer
Include a case for this portable TV to make it really portable, free from scratches.

I bought this TV unit to place on my desk next to my computer screen (22" LCD) while I play, game, and do homework. It picked up all 80 of the Cable Stations provided by Time Warner to my school. It even picked up the 3 Local Stations (NBC, FOX, and CBS) that also provide Digital signals through basic cable. The 3 digital stations (in addition to their standard counterparts) are shown at 480p (max resolution for device) with perfect audio quality. It even picked up the QAM Encrypted channels between 75-130. It shows them as 75-3, 75-4, etc. I have not gotten them to work, but this is because the Cable Company does not offer them to our University.
The TV by default Zooms (crops) 4:3 programs fullscreen (16:9) on the device. It actually stretches the video, but the screen is so small that you won't notice the additional width of people or objects. (With horizontal sidebars your talking maybe 1/2" on either side of the TV). The Digital channels (QAM and ATSC either over cable or air) are shown only in the native (at 480p) aspect ratios (you can't change them like you can the rest of the channels). The cropping\zooming will become less of an issue as more programs are shown at 16:9 even over standard definition cable.
Did I mention this LCD TV works as a PC Monitor!!! If your TV offers a S-video or Composite (Yellow color cable) out (which most modern graphics cards have, or a 99cent adapter for a laptop S-video port) you can treat this LCD TV as a second monitor for your computer or laptop. Its only 640x480, but that is plenty of room to put your Buddy List, Twitter Feed, Email Client, etc. I keep iTunes in the window so that I can play with my music while I'm playing a game, or writing a paper. Just note that the refresh rate on this TV\monitor is only 30hz (so visible flicker when displaying text)
I have had success hooking this device up to a N64, DVD Player, My Computer (via a S-video to Y-composite adapter), and my Zune. About the Zune, because the Zune 8 GB Digital Media Player (Black) does not have speakers, simply plug in your Video\Audio cable from your Zune to this device and you have a portable display (3x larger) with stereo sound with a good 1hr and half of battery charge. I'm debating bringing my Battery Backup system (860VA) to the beach with my lounge chair, which would give me 40 minutes of N64 playing while hooked up to this device.
The only thing to note is that I have not had success with over-the-air signals. However, my campus is on the ocean (literally) and about 5 miles from town, I plan on bringing the included telescoping antennae

I was going to buy a iPod Touch but chose this instead, way worth it as I have a Kindle, Netbook, Smartphone, and Zune (which does everything a Touch\iPhone can).
